I have 3 months to lose 40+ pounds... HELP!?

I've been trying to lose 30lbs since May and  managed to gain 10lbs so now I have to lose 40lbs to reach my goal. I'm getting married in November. I have about 3 months... Which means I have to lose about 3.5lbs a week. I know it is hard & not healthy to lose to much weight to fast but I'm so depressed. I want to be 125lbs again... doing the math you can figure out that I'm about 165lbs. I quit smoking and I'm so close to starting up again... I gained 10lbs since I quit... 10 pounds I don't need or want. I need REAL advice that WORKS. I've asked questions about this before & I still need help.

Hire yourself a personal trainer who can work with you on a regular basis and address aspects of diet, lifestyle and exercise. There's no miracles in this world

    Good luck

Hi ii3rittles.  I tried the Keto diet prior to my wedding and actually lost 10 lbs pretty quick.  Long term studies show its effectiveness the same as a low fat diet, but in the short term it works quickly.  I did have headaches and the adjustment to the diet took about 2 weeks.  The concept is that you eat foods high in fat and protein and no carbs.  Weekends you get to carb up.  You re-teach your body to burn fat as a fuel source instead of carbs.

A healthy alternative would be to eat 500 calories less per day and burn 500 calories more by exercise.  I would walk/run/swim/bike for 60 minutes per day and moderate what you eat.  Eat more frequently and eat small meals.  When you don't eat for a long time, you become more hungry and are more likely to overeat at your next meal.

I'd be happy to share some specifics if you need.  It's hard to really advise you without knowing much about your medical background.  You can talk to your physician and a nutritionist about a diet.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

That is a lot of weight to lose so quickly but it may can be done without you regaining it...

Most often when people diet they see the weight return because they have also lost muscle. As you know muscle is what burns fat... The more muscle you lose the less fat your body can burn... Nearly 1/2 of all the weight lost on a typical diet is pure fat burning muscle...

To prevent that you should consider a whey protein supplement coupled with a low glycemic diet and not all "diet" food is yucky... I have a couple of recipes posted here on hubpages that you can look at...

There is a product called Osolean that is a whey protein product but it takes fat burning to a new level... It has concentrated peptides that actually trigger the fat burning process and has been proven in 2 double blind placebo studies to reduce fat 3 times faster than dieting alone can do... I am using it myself with great results but I also eat low to moderately glycemic foods....

Good Luck and Congratulations on your marriage, May it last you a lifetime.

Make sure that you are drinking plenty of water. And if you increase your activity level, then make sure you increase your water too. Your body needs to be hydrated in order to lose fat. You should take a look at my hub about 5 ways water helps you lose weight. http://ktrapp.hubpages.com/hub/5-Ways-D … ose-Weight It is so simple to do and really helps.

If you are dehydrated now and begin to get hydrated the scale might go up a little. That is OK since it is water, not fat. But your body needs this free fuel for metabolism and energy.

Check out my hub about loosing weight. It is an explanation of ways to change your dietary habits. But it's not too hard. I also have another hub about postpartum weight, but some of the tips will help! http://lmarsh1203.hubpages.com/hub/Shed … aby-Weight

Also I know this is going to sound really difficult, but if you stress you gain weight. So try not to think about loosing the weight. Make a plan and implement it. Because your weight can fluctuate daily, choose one day a week to step on the scale and check your weight. (Preferably right after you wake-up int he morning and if you can do a naked weight. This will give you a true number.) Good luck. And no matter what you will be gorgeous on your wedding day!

You should first stop and pat yourself on the back, seriously...for quitting smoking!!!!!  That is no small feat!!!  I know...I quit about 3 months ago...and I still cry sometimes I want to smoke so bad!  You sound like a beautiful woman, and I wish you wouldn't put so much pressure on yourself to loose weight before your wedding!

But, I understand you want to look the best you can for your special day and the first thing we women think about is how much fat we have.  My advice...be nicer and more accepting of yourself...eat healthy...a balanced diet...maybe one high in protein but low in bad fats and bad carbs?  I would talk to your doctor about a good healthy plan.  Drink lots of water and walk a lot.  Walking really does help one loose weight.

I am an overweight person and have tried some diets, including weight watchers, which is a great program.  I am not an example of an accomplished dieter...but I have learned a lot about healthy food choices from my experiences at weight watchers and from doing research on healthy diets.

One thing all healthy programs say is that you have to eat to loose weight...so don't starve yourself!  If you eat healthy, don't start smoking, and exercise, you will probably feel so much better that it won't matter if you don't loose all the weight you want.

Good luck and don't be so hard on yourself!  I've been married almost 11 years...trust me...the best thing is the marriage, not the wedding.

Relax and enjoy your special day! smile  Don't let relatives etc. put pressure on you either!!!

Your right it is a lot of weight to loose in three months. The average healthy weight loss is 1 - 2 pounds a week. My best advice would be to join a weight loss program like Weight Watchers its a realy great place to find support. If thats not an option, They you must watch what you eat. make sure you get at leats 5 servings fo fruits and veggies in a day. Drink water at least 6 glasses a day and exercise. Some times when you start to exercise you may see a bit of a weight gain but remember that its only temporary.  Another important thing to do is to write every bite down. You'll be suprised with what you are actually eating. Oh and you may not like this but cut out the soad  even diet soda. Hope this helps best of luck to you and your future spouse!  What ever you do DON'T start smoking again. Quitting was one of the best things you could have done for your self. I know trying to loose weight can be frustrating but keep it up. You can do it. Check out my website for some great healthy recipes and more weight loss tips. www.amazingshrinkingmen.com

Well, it should be obvious, REALLY obvious that you need to exercise . . . .you should cut out red meat and pork, and definitely not eat bread.

    Drink nothing but water.

I wouldn't be so concerned with a number...rather pick a realistic size.  I'm 5'8 and when I weighed 138 I was a size 4 and was toned and fit.  I also weighed 124, but was a size six because I had no muscle definition.  Muscle weighs more than fat but it makes your body look a hell of a lot  better = )
You should check out www.sparkpeople.com  it's a pretty fantastic weightloss sight.  It helps you track your calories and exercise goals....and it's free!

Giving up smoking is a killer for the weight gain. I gave up smoking and became a fat alcoholic for awhile. But whatever you do, don't, I repeat DON'T start smoking again.

There are many ways to lose weight but the best advice is eat less fat, sugar and useless carbs and increase exercise particularly cardio fat burning eg running.

I know you want to lose the weight fast but you risk putting it all back on if you do a crash diet. Slow and steady wins the race and you will sustain your weight loss much more easily.

I'm sure your partner loves you curvy and cuddly so don't stress. Go for a attainable goals and work on your mindset. Once you get into the exercise regime  will feel better and feel thin by working out those muscles. Stand straight and proud and enjoy your youthful beauty!

The science of weight loss is simple - what goes in + what is used = weight loss.  Yeah I know how difficult it is to loss weight & now I'm doing menopause (typical everything difficult in my life seems to start with 'men') it's even harder.  So far you have done one fantastic thing - stop smoking.  This alone will improve many areas in your life e.g. easier breathing.

I have lost over 30 kg (approx. 70lbs) by changing my eating habits, food intake, type of food I eat and exercise.  Currently I have gained about 3kg because I am unable to exercise on a regular basis due to injury, but I have maintained my goal weight for the last 12 years.  Also I've gone vegetarian in the last year, so sorry about the lack of red meat, but this works for me and I get some other great benefits.

This is a run down on what I've done and am still doing -
    - running, cycling or walking first thing on rising
    - eating breakfast of stir fried vegetables - medium bowl
    - having 1 piece of fruit or biscuit for morning tea
    - salad with a wrap / tuna / vegetarian sausage or vegetable patties or Mexican bean mix with 2 taco shells or vegetable Thai curry with rice or quinoa or cous cous
    - afternoon tea fruit / small green salad / savoury biscuits with tomato (I don't do full on carbohydrates after 4pm)
    - green salad / soup and dry biscuits / and fruit or low sugar jelly.

It does sound spartan, but I couldn't list all the foods or recipes I have here.  May write a Hub about it.  Good luck and don't stress because this interfers with weight loss..

What most people are failing to tell you is. You need to find out how much food your body needs, not how much it wants. If you gained 10lbs, you are obviously over-eating.

If you take a plate of food out, only eat half. You need to control yourself, and don't let your appetite take control of you.

Seinfeld even said it himself. Sometimes he likes to ruin his appetite, why? Because he gets 6 of them a day! So remember if you think you are "starving", you aren't, just put a little bit of food aka "energy" in your body.

Stop eating before you go to bed, if you eat before you go to bed, what do you think happens to all those calories? This is where the famous "beer gut" comes from, as drinking alcohol does not make you gain weight, but the food that you tend to eat after does.

Cut out as much nasty stuff like sweets, pop, popcorn, ice cream, cake ETC. Drink water/Eat Fruits and vegetables. although I tend to eat sweets sometimes, but it is very important you keep it to a minimum, if at all. You can still lose weight, however remember you are slowing down the weight loss process.

Anyways,  good luck! Remember eating(for the rest of your life) less is the first step to maintaining a lower weight.

    Now about Exercising:

People are saying that exercising is the only way to lose weight. Not only is that incorrect, it is not needed. Although it is healthy and you should. Losing weight can be done with by just the above method, however exercising does burn calories so of course it is better than sitting on the couch if you want to lose weight!

Losing 18 Kgs in 3 months might be too much to handle. Instead I would like to advice that you should aim to lose 5 Kgs per month as this will not upset your health issue.

Losing weight is all about calories intake. So, from today, you will need to monitor closely on the calories intake.

Record down daily what you are eating base on the amount of calories. After 3 days of monitoring the calories and presume that your intake is 3000 calories, then you must reduce it to 2500 calories. With this reduction, you will be able to cut down your weight by 1 or 2 kgs within a week. Do the reduction of calories gradually like after 2 weeks, reduce it by 250 calories which means 2250 calories on the 3rd week.

So with this gradually reduction, it will likely not affecting your health too much. But remember not to over reduction of the calories as you require it for energy.

I do believe that this way you will be able to do a good amount of reduction in your weight.

Hope this helps as it has helped me.

It is all about your diet.  You can easily lose 10 to 15 lbs fast, but it will be all water weight.  You need to have a good, healthy breakfast every morning!  Eat lots of proteins and lower your portion size of each meal.  Make sure you eat 5 small meals a day.  And remember if you get hungry you can eat as many green vegetables as you can muster, preferably raw.

It's pretty simple although everyone tries to make it so hard.

Losing weight means less calories in vrs calories out.

You expell calories (shed fat) by sweating.

Put the two together: Great amounts of cardio plus less calories in (eating less) = losing weight.

Check out this website and read everything you can on about losing weight and exercise. It is VERY accurate and breaks it all down and gives you a map on how to lose weight effectively without a gym or a costing money:
